The PRO WOMEN UA public organization conducted an excursion along the historical trails of Lutsk

On March 17, an excursion along the historical trails of Lutsk was organized by the public organization PRO WOMEN UA and Andriy Pavlyashyk, author of the project “Excursions with a Historian.” The excursion brought together about 30 participants, who traveled through the centuries for two hours, getting acquainted with the most famous sights of the city.

During the tour of Lutsk, participants stopped and took photos on the city’s main street, Lesia Ukrainka Street, near Lutsk Castle, the cathedral, and the old town. The tour increased the participants’ knowledge of the history and culture of Volhynia, broadened their horizons, and helped our city’s guests get to know the region better.

“Every time I am surprised at how much we don’t know about the real history of our region, even when you live in your hometown all your life. Thank you to the whole family for the opportunity to explore our Lutsk,” one of the participants shared her impressions.

This is not the first excursion organized by PRO WOMEN UA. For two months, the public organization has been implementing the project “Integration of IDPs, including families, through in-depth immersion in the culture, history, and career guidance of the Volyn region.” Together with historians, tour guides, and folk craftswomen, we are exploring the true, profound meanings of Volyn, which the Soviet authorities tried to replace in order to create the image of an “illiterate region of witches and sorcerers.” The organization also helps local and new residents of Volyn adapt to current labor market conditions through career guidance training.
